Chair of Biology
We thank and appreciate Dr. Erik C. Johnson, Professor of Biology, for his continued leadership and strong service as Chair of Biology! His reappointment will commence on July 1, 2025.
Associate Chair of Biology
Dr. Sarah McDonald Esstman, Professor of Biology, has been newly appointed as Associate Chair of Biology, effective July 1, 2025. We thank Dr. Esstman for her upcoming leadership and service!

Thanks to the help of these review panel and selection committee members, Wake Forest students and alumni were named as recipients or finalists for 20+ nationally and/or internationally competitive scholarship awards in the 2024-2025 academic year. Preparing candidates for the national stage is a serious communal undertaking, and scores of faculty, staff, and alumni came together with the Scholars Office to help our students succeed. We are grateful for the service of the Committee members and to every individual who wrote a letter of recommendation on behalf of their students—or encouraged a student to apply!
